Dr Ruth Hussey
Wales Chief Medical Officer Dr Ruth Hussey told delegates at the 2015 Population Health Congress about her country’s Well-being of Future Generations Act, which requires all public bodies to consider environment, health and social principles in every decision they make. Dr Trevor Hancock has been leading a Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) project to document the potential health impacts of major global ecological changes and to propose an action agenda for public and population health which he says has been “ecologically blind” with its focus on the social determinants of health (SDOH).
