Five years ago, Croakey Health Media was registered as a member-based company limited by guarantee (on 24 August, 2018), after evolving since 2007 as an independent journalism project.
As we celebrate our early years as a not for profit public interest journalism organisation, and thank everyone who has supported our growth and development and engaged with us along the way, we have a few birthday wishes.
If you or your organisation has valued our work over the past five years – perhaps used it in teaching or advocacy or research – then here are some ideas for how you could support us going forward.
1. Join the Croakey Funding Consortium
Four levels of membership are available. We’d love to see some more Health Equity Champion members, alongside cohealth and VicHealth.
This would make a real difference to our sustainability.
2. Donate to our public interest journalism funding pool
This pool is currently dry. We’ve got plenty of ideas for important stories and, with your support, we could get them done. You can donate here.
If you’d specifically like to support climate and health journalism, then please donate here.
And see the stories we’ve been able to do this year thanks to donors.
3. Enlist Croakey Conference News Service
The Croakey Conference News Service provides skilled, editorially independent multimedia reporting of conferences and other events that are likely to be of interest or use to Croakey readers. The service is funded by conference organisers or other third parties, but editorial responsibility rests with the Croakey team.
This news service helps support knowledge dissemination and amplifies the impact and reach of conferences. Proposals are tailored and can include:
- Live tweeting
- Online news reports, published before, during and after the conference or event
- Follow-up interactive e-publications compiling all coverage.
You will find a detailed summary of our past conferences here.
4. Advertise your events and services
You can advertise on our website, in our weekly news bulletin, and at each story published by Croakey.org. We can also share your advertisements across our social media channels.
5. Get some Croakey merch
Give us a real birthday treat.
Kit yourself out with some Croakey merch and share a selfie on the socials.
If none of those options grab you, we have plenty of other suggestions for how to help sustain healthy journalism.
