Double dissolution or not, we are heading for a federal election.
At Croakey we will be doing our best to support and encourage an informed debate about health and healthcare, with a particular focus on the wider determinants of health and health inequalities.
We have registered the hashtag #HealthElection16 with the analytics site Symplur, to encourage readers and contributors to participate and contribute, and to engage with the issues of substance that are so important for health and well-being of communities and the planet, beyond political race-calling.
We hope to hear plenty about climate change and health, Indigenous health, the social determinants of health, public health, and primary healthcare, amongst other things. We would also like to see #JustJustice matters featuring at #HealthElection16.
Bookmark this link to track who is engaging with #HealthElection16 discussions, and you can also follow the transcript at this link (the time periods can be adjusted to suit).
What about a #HealthElection16 party?
We are inviting readers and contributors to consider hosting a #HealthElection16 party or event in the lead-up to the election, with a view to informing discussions at Croakey and more widely. Please get in touch (details at the bottom of this page) if interested in participating this way.
#HealthElection16 parties could be held in real life, or via Twitter or other social media channels. They might involve two or 200 people; it’s up to you to come up with some creative and useful suggestions.
Meanwhile, have a read about the Canadian Government’s commitment to addressing the social determinants of health.
