We need your help to sustain our public interest journalism with a focus on health equity.
Next week we are launching our inaugural #CroakeyFundingDrive, with a program of activities from 5-11 December that will be moderated via our Twitter account, @WePublicHealth.
As well as aiming to raise funds to support our work next year, we will be crowdsourcing ideas for Croakey projects, collaborations and articles using the hashtag #HealthEquityMatters2023.
The funding environment for public interest journalism is precarious. We hope this campaign will encourage a wider understanding of the importance of supporting public interest journalism and help us to broaden our supporter base.
Perhaps it may encourage some of our readers to engage proactively with the Federal Government’s plans for media reform, as recently floated by Communications Minister Michelle Rowland.
Program
On Monday 5 December the campaign launches with a day-long Twitter festival, #AppreciationDay profiling the work of our Croakey supporters.
On Tuesday 6 December the focus will be on #ResearchTranslation and public interest journalism. Please share your favourite examples of effective research translation.
Friday 9 December is #PetsofCroakey day, where we ask you to share your favourite pet pictures and we will provide a compilation post.
We will wrap up on Sunday 11 December at 7.30pm with a webinar #HealthEquityMatters2023 looking at story pitches for 2023.
Please share the news and details of the #CroakeyFundingDrive.
