Why is this in Croakey? A fleeting mention of population health doesn’t warrant the posting of yet-another-climate-change-article in a Health Blog.

Beg to disagree – plenty of public health experts and agencies regard climate change as a critical health issue. So do very mainstream medical journals like The Lancet and BMJ. Plus if you read Croakey regularly, you will know that the blog takes a broad view of what is a health issue – transport, education etc are all fodder for those with a concern for public health.

I have to say I’m disappointed. We are all subjected to quite adequate levels of climate change debate elsewhere. If I wanted to read all about the “extremely clear” scientific evidence behind AGW, I’d pick up my daily broadsheet, open to any page, close my eyes, and randomly point.

The link between this article and any health issue is dubious at best. Any croakey articles on transport, education etc… have at least concluded with a reference to health. This one does not. It’s borderline propaganda as it is. Knowing full well the consensus of opinion held by your average Crikey subscriber, I expect to be shouted down… but frankly I’d prefer it if we stuck to the subject at hand.
